JOB SUMMARY
This position provides direction under the guidance of the head basketball coach to student-athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork. To value and promote the worth of each participant while effectively leading players and staff to achieve their individual and collective potential. Work is performed under the direction of the head coach, Principal and Athletic Director.
DESCRIPTION
Provides instruction to students in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises Assesses students' skills, monitors students during competition and practice Provides determining game strategy Follows established procedures in the event of an injury Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards students, officials and spectators Supervises and maintains the equipment room in orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security Distributes and collects equipment, supplies and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach Maintains a safe environment and facilities for student athletes at all times Participates in special activities to include parent's night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records Models non discriminatory practices in all activities QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. High School diploma or GED Per WIAA - minimum age for head coach is 21 years of age, assistant coach is 19 years of age Previous Coaching experience preferred Reasoning ability to understand and carry out instructions and solve practical problems Must complete WIAA required training and district required SafeSchools training prior to the beginning of the sport's season The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules. Ability to speak effectively to administration, staff, students and parents.

Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Work is predominantly in athletic rooms and gyms). Temperature - normal climate. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travels to other school district buildings as required. If you are hired for this position, you will be required to complete a background check, unless you have completed the background check in the past two years, and it is on file with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
