The French-American School of Puget Sound, an independent bilingual school located on Mercer Island, is currently recruiting for a Head Cross-Country Coach for the upcoming 2026 Griffins cross-country season. Practices begin Saturday, September 5th, and the season concludes in early October following the final meet on Sunday, October 4th. Responsibilities The Cross-Country Coach, reporting to the Associate Athletic Director and Director of Auxiliary Programs, will lead a developmental cross-country program open to students in grades K-8. The responsibilities for this job include, but are not limited to: Supervision and instruction of cross-country student-athletes during all practices, meets, and team activities Maintenance, care, and inventory of cross-country equipment and supplies Attendance at required FASPS and CYO cross-country meetings Support and encouragement of multi-sport participation for student-athletes Development of meaningful, engaging practice plans that promote skill-building, endurance, teamwork, and enjoyment for a wide range of ages and ability levels Demonstrating positive character traits and serving as a role model for student-athletes Abide by the FASPS Athletics Coaching Manual Compliance with all FASPS and CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) policies and procedures Collaboration with the Associate Athletic Director, assistant coaches in all necessary capacities Recruitment and coordination of parent volunteers for practices and meets Coordination of student and parent transportation and check-in logistics for Sunday meets at

Season:

September through early October Requirements and Qualifications Successful candidates must: Be at least 18 years of age Be available for all Saturday practices and all Sunday meets throughout the season (between 3 and 10 hours per week) Have experience coaching cross-country, track, or distance running at the elementary, middle school, or youth level (strongly preferred but not required) Have fluency in French (desired but not required) Additionally, candidates must: Complete a satisfactory criminal background check Possess or obtain prior to the start of the season: current First Aid and CPR certification Complete the CYO Catholic Coaching Essentials online course Compensation and Benefits The French American School of Puget Sound is committed to attracting and retaining outstanding coaching candidates who will add to the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our community.
