Youth Flag Football Assistant Referee is responsible for helping to officiate Youth Flag Football League games. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to game time. Help to examine and evaluate the safety of the playfield, surrounding area and equipment. Start and end games according to the schedule, rules and weather cancellation policy. Communicate with participants, coaches, and parents in a professional manner. Interpret and enforce the rules of the game on the field throughout the game. Supervise and control the general conduct of all participants in the game. Invoke and impose penalties for violations of rules and unsportsmanlike conduct. Make decisions on any point not specifically covered in rules. Help clean-up the playfield at the completion of the night's games. Report incidents and concerns to the Recreation Program Manager in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Program Manager. Must be 14+ (16+ years old preferred). Strong leadership and decision-making skills. Strong communication skills Knowledge of Port Washington Recreation Department Flag Football rules. Prior experience refereeing games preferred. Prior experience playing or coaching football preferred.
