Job Description

SUMMARY The College of the Arts invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Commercial Music. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in areas such as Pop Rock Lab Ensemble, Jazz Pop Theory, Songwriting, Worship Leadership Practicum, Worship Music Ensemble, Performance Sound and Production, Entrepreneurship in the Arts, Computer Applications in Music, and Applied Lessons. The position requires a strong commitment to the Christian faith, as well as excellence in teaching, scholarly research, and service. The faculty member will develop and maintain curriculum aligned with current commercial music industry standards and emerging technologies. The faculty member will oversee student recording projects, performances, recitals, and experiential learning opportunities, while supporting internships, community partnerships, and professional networking opportunities for students. Responsibilities also include developing and delivering interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with other College of the Arts programs and collaborating with faculty and staff in the planning and execution of concerts, showcases, worship events, and campus productions. The faculty member will participate in University service, faculty development programs, recruitment activities, and student advising; contribute to scholarly, creative, and/or professional activity; and integrate Christian faith and pedagogy within the classroom and mentoring environment. EDUCATION
Master's degree in Commercial Music, Music Technology, Music Industry, Contemporary Music, Music Production, Music Education required, or equivalent experience. Experience in music production, songwriting, recording, arranging, music entrepreneurship, and/or contemporary worship leadership. Prior collegiate-level teaching experience, preferred. Active engagement in professional organizations (such as NAMM) and/or ongoing creative and scholarly activity. Commitment to teaching excellence and service to the college, university, and community. Demonstrated Christian commitment and the ability to integrate faith into coursework.
POSITION DETAILS
The position is a full-time position, with a teaching load of 4 courses per semester.
