The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Berry College invites applications for a visiting assistant professor of French to begin in August 2027. The ideal candidate will have experience and enthusiasm for teaching lower- and intermediate-level courses in the college setting as well as an ability to teach upper-level courses in literature, French cinema and culture, and/or linguistics, etc. This is a two-year visiting appointment with the possibility of extending to a third year. The department is committed to providing students with the opportunity of becoming proficient in the languages, literatures and cultures of the languages it offers, and to gain cross- and intercultural competency and global awareness. It seeks to graduate majors and minors with advanced communicative skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing, cultural knowledge of other countries, and a sophisticated understanding of the problems and promises that a globalized world presents. The department also boasts graduates who have won numerous prestigious fellowships, such as the Fulbright and the Critical Language Scholarship.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in French or a closely related field, and candidates who are currently ABD should earn their Ph.D. by the date of employment.
