Sociology Work Location Lexington, KY Type of Position Faculty Position Time Status Full-Time Tenure Track Status Tenure Track Required Education A Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field is required by August 1, 2027 Required Related Experience N/A Required License/Registration/Certification N/A Job Summary The Department of Sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky seeks to fill a tenure-eligible faculty position at the Assistant Professor level with expertise in the sociology of health. This is a 9-month position in the regular title series with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2027. The first-year Distribution of Effort will be 45% Teaching, 45% Research, and 10% Departmental service. We welcome applicants from a wide range of substantive areas that employ quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, and/or other methodological approaches whose research complement and strengthen our existing areas of expertise ( www.soc.as.uky.edu ). The successful candidate will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels across the sociology curriculum, including general sociology courses. The selected candidate will have opportunities to collaborate with faculty affiliated with the Center for Health, Engagement, and Transformation (CHET) and to participate in the interdisciplinary Health, Society, and Populations undergraduate degree program ( https://health.as.uky.edu /). Additional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration are available through the University's research priority areas, including substance use (SUPRA), impactful research (UNITE), as well as numerous centers and institutes across campus ( https://www.research.uky.edu/research-prioritiesinitiative ).
