Job Summary/Basic Functions The Department of Physiology in the School of Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, LA invites applications for an academic faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor from outstanding candidates with a Ph.D. or M.D. (or equivalent) degree. Rank and track to be determined based on candidate's qualifications. Special consideration will be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of excellent research accomplishments in the physiological mechanisms underlying alcohol and drug misuse, and with the willingness and ability to contribute teaching programs for graduate, undergraduate and health care professionals in training. The successful applicant will have a joint appointment in the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center of Excellence, and he/she will be expected to synergize with existing research strengths in these areas. Applicants are also expected to maintain an active, extramural-funded research program, and to mentor students and research fellows. Opportunities are available for interaction with the Centers of Excellence in Cancer, Neuroscience, Cardiovascular Biology, and Burn, which are supported by a state-of-the-art infrastructure including access to core laboratories in genomics, proteomics, imaging, and flow cytometry. The position will be supported by designated laboratory space, competitive salary and start-up package.
