Visiting Assistant Professor Position in French and Francophone Studies Colby College The Department of French and Italian Studies is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Francophone Studies for a one-year position to begin July 1st, 2027. PhD expected. The successful candidate will be part of an energetic department committed to providing the best liberal arts education to talented undergraduates. We seek a teacher-scholar with extensive experience teaching across the curriculum and working with a diverse student body. The area of specialization is open; preference given to candidates specializing in the literatures and/or the cultures of the Francophone Americas, which include Quebec, North America and the French Caribbean, as well as, potentially, one or more of the following regions: the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Islands, North Africa, or the Middle East and their diasporas. We seek candidates whose research interests complement those already represented among the department's French faculty while also expanding and diversifying our curricular offerings. Areas of research specialization may include interdisciplinary fields such as visual culture, cultural history, gender studies, ecocriticism, medical humanities, Atlantic studies, island studies, Indigenous studies and disability studies among others.

This one-year Visiting Assistant position carries a teaching load of five courses at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. Candidates must have a native or near-native fluency in French and English, as well as a strong commitment to teaching all levels of French language.
