Mathematics and Computer Science Location Hillsdale, Michigan OpenDate Aug 13, 2026 Description Hillsdale College invites applications for a tenure-trackAssistant Professor or Associate Professor of Computer Science beginning in August 2027. The teaching load is three courses per semester atall levels of the undergraduate curriculum. Hillsdale College is a small (1500 students), fiercely independent Christian liberal artscollege dedicated to the perpetuation of freedom through serious learning and moral formation. It is committed to the Western intellectualtradition and requires genuine excellence in undergraduate teaching. The Department ofMathematics and Computer Science offers majors in mathematics and applied mathematics, and minors in mathematics and computer science. Thedepartment graduates approximately 35 majors per year, an extraordinarily high number for a liberal arts college of our size and enjoys ahigh degree of student engagement in extracurricular activities such as the Artificial Intelligence Society, colloquium series, mathematicshonor society, problem-solving seminar, and applied mathematics club. Review of applications will begin on October 12, 2026 andcontinue until the position is filled or closed. Qualifications Candidates should have completed a Ph. D.in Computer Science or a closely related field by the beginning of the appointment. Those with a master's degree and strong qualificationsmay also be considered. The area of scholarly expertise is open. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in teaching,an understanding of computer science vis-à-vis the liberal arts, and an ability to collaborate in the design and maintenance of thecurriculum in a small department.
