WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY.
The Department of English invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Shakespeare Studies and Early Modern British Literature, effective July 1, 2027.
Qualifications :
An earned Ph. D. in English or a related field is required for the position; ABD candidates are invited to apply. Qualified applicants will demonstrate research and teaching expertise in Shakespeare and Renaissance literature, with possible emphases including but not limited to drama and performance and/or global and transnational studies. We encourage applications from candidates whose work intersects with departments and programs on the WFU campus including Medieval and Early Modern Studies, Theater and Dance, African-American Studies, Environment and Sustainability Studies, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
Position Summary :
Course load is 2-2; teaching responsibilities include MA seminars, upper- and lower-level courses in Shakespeare and/or early modern literature, and literature courses in the university's Core Curriculum. Candidates are expected to demonstrate innovative pedagogy and a commitment to creating inclusive learning and working environments for diverse populations. In addition to teaching courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, this individual will be expected to publish and engage in scholarly activity in the field, participate in departmental, College, and University service, and contribute to the University's community outreach efforts. A one-semester paid research leave is guaranteed before application for tenure.
