Start Date:

December 1, 2026 New Mexico State University Grants Community College invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track Automotive Technology Instructor. The successful candidate will provide classroom and laboratory instruction in automotive diagnosis, maintenance, and repair; assess student learning; maintain safe and effective lab environments; advise students; participate in curriculum development and program improvement; and collaborate with industry partners to support workforce development and student success.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate of Applied Science degree in Automotive Technology or a closely related field, ASE Certifications (A1-A8) or the ability to obtain certification within one year of hire, and at least two years of professional automotive industry or automotive education experience. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in multiple automotive systems and possess knowledge of at least four of the following areas: Automotive Engines, Brakes, Electrical Systems, Engine Performance, HVAC, Steering and Suspension, Automatic Transmissions/Transaxles, and Manual Power Trains.

Preferred Qualifications:

bachelor's degree or higher, community college teaching experience, ASE Advanced Level certifications, experience with hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, online teaching experience, and a record of developing industry partnerships and workforce training opportunities.
