Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative department committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Reporting to the Department Head of Animal and Range Sciences, the incumbent will have access to the resources and mentoring needed to establish a thriving and rewarding academic career. This position is located at the New Mexico State University Main Campus in Las Cruces, NM. The appointment will be 100% teaching with opportunities for supplemental compensation for recruitment and retention efforts. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the teaching mission of the Department of Animal and Range Sciences. There are currently undergraduate classes associated with this position at all levels in the curriculum. This faculty will also help to direct the dual credit program in animal science. This position will foster collaborations and participate in activities and on research teams that support the work of the Center for Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems (CESFAS). Applicants must have excellent written and oral communication skills and demonstrate ability to utilize digital technologies for course design and delivery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching lecture and hands-on lab classes in animal science
  • Ability to design and deliver courses online
  • Departmental service
  • Recruiting and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
  • Actively engage in scholarly activities related to instruction, including, but not limited to, participating in curriculum revision and enhancement, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.

Qualifications Required Education and Experience:
A Ph.D. (awarded by date of hire) or other terminal degree and instructional experience in Animal Science.

Prior teaching experience and a willingness and desire to advise undergraduate students in Animal Science are desirable. Candidates must be committed to student-centered education, continued high-quality professional development, and service to the university and community.
