Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Siena University invites applications for an adjunct faculty position for the Spring term, 2027. Teach one section of

STAT 175

Statistical Reasoning Tuesday, Thursday (6:00pm-7:30pm)

Course Description:

Statistical Reasoning is an introductory statistics course that helps students develop critical thinking skills through data analysis in today's AI-driven world. Students learn to interpret statistical results, evaluate claims, and communicate insights clearly and accurately. The course emphasizes reasoning rather than calculation while also addressing the ethical use of data and its role in exploring diversity, equity, and inclusion. Statistical software R and R Markdown are used to enhance understanding, but they are not the central focus. No prior programming experience is required. Topics include descriptive statistics, data visualization, probability, sampling strategies, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and simple linear regression.

Required Qualifications Master's degree in a related field. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. or ABD. Prior college-level teaching experience. Familiarity with Canvas LMS. Experience with the R statistical software platform.

$1,333.34 per contact hour •The hiring salary above represents the University's good faith estimate at the time of posting in compliance with the Albany County Salary Transparency Law.
