OU Health Sciences Center - Oklahoma City, OK The Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Clinical Assistant Professor to join our Cleft and Craniofacial Team. The position will be responsible for all academic, patient care, research, and administrative functions of the program consistent with applicable rules, regulations, or guidelines of the College of Dentistry, the University of Oklahoma and the American Dental Association Council on Accreditation. The successful candidate will join an the surgical sciences department committed to excellence in teaching didactic and clinical courses in the post-doctoral oral and maxillofacial surgery program.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing, implementing, and supervising a quality post-doctoral education program for Residents at the College of Dentistry. Assigning and scheduling faculty to specific teaching responsibilities in a way that will maximize the quality of the pre-doctoral educational program. Preparing course schedules for each semester. Participating in research and encouraging research by pre-doctoral students and residents Participating at periodic meetings of the program faculty; performing other duties necessary for effective and efficient operation of the oral and maxillofacial surgery pre-doctoral educational program. Diagnosis of pathological or irregular oral conditions Administering local anesthesia Performing admissions, work-up, and performance of surgical procedures of patients with illnesses, injuries, and disorders of both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial regions. Performing dental-alveolar surgical procedures, placement of dental implants and biopsy procedures, and ambulatory OMS procedures. Performing routine and complex extraction of teeth, exostosis removal and routine pre-prosthetic surgeries. Education and supervision of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery residents, dental residents, interns, and dental students.
Qualifications:
DDS/DMD from CODA accredited dental school or foreign equivalent and completion of Part I and Part II of National Board Examinations. Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from CODA accredited residency program or foreign equivalent training. Experience in dental education and experience with electronic medical records preferred. Eligibility for Oklahoma specialty dental licensure/faculty teaching permit required.
