Job Description

Job Description:
The Program of Sociology at Northeastern State University invites applications for an assistant professorship in sociology. We seek a generalist to offer courses in introduction to sociology, social problems, and social statistics. Areas of specialization are open, but a focus on criminology and deviance is desired. Further, the ability to integrate active learning and digital resources into the classroom, along with a willingness to teach face-to-face or online, is expected. The anticipated start date is January 2027. Duties include a 4/4 teaching load, encompassing both core courses and elective offerings in the candidate's areas of specialization. Ph.D. in sociology preferred by time of appointment; ABD considered. Previous teaching experience desired. Northeastern State is located in Tahlequah, about an hour southeast of Tulsa, in the heart of Oklahoma's Green Country and nestled at the foot of the Ozark Mountains. The University traces its roots back to the founding of the original Cherokee National Female Seminary in 1851, and the area's rich traditions offer numerous opportunities for experiential learning.
