Tenure-Track Assistant Professorship in Post-1945 Fiction and/or Narrative of the United States
Job Description
The English Department at Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in post-1945 fiction and/or narrative of the United States beginning in August 2027. Teaching responsibilities will include an introductory course in the English department on narrative or fiction; an advanced course focusing on either of these same genres; a year-long interdisciplinary course with a preset syllabus (Humanities 110), focused on the development of analytical and critical skills of first-year students; and advising year-long senior theses. Ph.D. must be in hand by June 30, 2027. The successful candidate will complement the department's existing strengths and may also contribute to the college's programs in Comparative Race and Ethnicity Studies; Sex, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; or the Environmental Humanities Initiative. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, and whose writing reflects a lively and serious program of scholarship.
