The Department of Sociology and Criminology invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2027. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and service supports the University's mission, particularly regarding social justice. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Criminology or Sociology by the time of appointment. We especially encourage applicants who focus on legal system processes (e.g. policing, courts, corrections). Successful candidates will have an active research agenda with an emphasis on high-quality publications. They should also demonstrate a commitment to effective teaching at the undergraduate level and will be expected to teach a research methods and/or data analysis course, among other courses in their areas of expertise. Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-tenure teaching duties consist of a 3/2 load with a one course reduction for the first year (2/2). After a successful Third Year Review, faculty receive a one-semester sabbatical at full pay. Upon receiving tenure and promotion, associate professors have a 2/2 teaching load.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Criminology or Sociology by the time of appointment.
