Assistant Professor, Biology (Neuroscience)
Job Description
Winthrop University invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology with expertise in neuroscience for employment tobegin August 16, 2027. The successful candidate will join a collegial environment that includes 14 full-time faculty and over 300undergraduate majors. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of excellence in teaching, a strong commitment to student learningand development, and the ability to establish an independent research program that attracts undergraduate students. This position requires aPh. D. in a biological science or an equivalent area (ABDs will be considered). PositionResponsibilities Teach/develop courses in neuroscience and support the biology curriculum for a total of 12 contacthours per semester. Beyond neuroscience, teach courses that could include Principles of Cell and Molecular Biology, ScientificProcess in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, Integration of Biological Principles, and courses that contribute to the general educationprogram. Active engagement in student-centered research in field of specialization. Advising and mentoring undergraduatestudents majoring in biology. Engage in professional service to the department, college, university, discipline, andcommunity Other duties as assigned by the department chair. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment requiringdaily on-campus contact; instructional duties during the academic year (9 months, Aug. 16 - May 15) come with the option to actively supporta summer undergraduate research experience.
