Job Summary The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler) Department of Civil and Construction Engineering and Management in the College of Engineering (COE) is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Civil Engineering/Structures starting as early as January 2026. The department is particularly interested in applicants whose experience, practice, and/or research enhance the sustainability of the built environment and the stewardship of natural resources. This position is targeted for candidates with a strong background in Structural Engineering. Candidates in other emerging areas that align with the department's vision and strategic goals will also be considered. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications Professional and academic experience. Potential for sustaining a vigorous externally funded research program and a dynamic portfolio of graduate and undergraduate educational competencies. In 2013, the College of Engineering inaugurated the Houston Engineering Center (HEC) on the Alief Hayes Campus of Houston Community College, offering junior, senior, and graduate-level courses in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering and construction management. Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
