Norfolk State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Public Relations within the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism (MCJR). We seek a scholar-practitioner who is passionate about teaching, dedicated to student success, and committed to working with students from diverse backgrounds. Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Mass Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a closely related field (ABD considered, with Ph.D. required by time of appointment) Teaching and academic expertise that complements existing faculty strengths and supports curricular needs Evidence of scholarly journalism or public relations research and potential for continued productivity Additional Considerations Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Strong commitment to student success and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds College-level teaching experience in journalism or public relations Professional experience in journalism or public relations or strategic communication tools Active involvement in relevant professional organizations (e.g., AEJMC, PRSA, NABJ) Experience with innovative teaching strategies and curriculum development Minimum salary is $62,000
