SOM-Cardiovascular Services - MU9452 Job Description Position Summary The Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine's Department of Cardiovascular Services is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our growing faculty. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in the diagnosis and management of complex heart failure, including pre- and post-transplant care, mechanical circulatory support, and advanced therapies. This role is part of a dynamic and expanding academic cardiology program in a collegial, team-based environment. Faculty physicians enjoy access to state-of-the-art facilities and strong institutional support for both clinical and academic growth. This position does not involve transplant or LVAD implantation, as these services are referred to external centers. This appointment is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on a clinical track, depending on the candidate's qualifications and interests. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive care for patients with advanced heart failure, including those requiring mechanical circulatory support or transplant evaluation. Participate in the development and advancement of the Advanced Heart Failure program, working closely with multidisciplinary teams. Serve as attending physician at one primary site, with coverage rotating among two hospitals and satellite clinics. Participate in inpatient rounding every 6th weekend, with support from cardiology fellows (no year-round call requirement). Teach and mentor general cardiology fellows, residents, and medical students in both formal and informal settings. Engage in scholarly activity including quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and collaboration with Marshall's translational and biomedical sciences programs. Salary Range:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience Education MD or DO (or foreign equivalent) Experience Successful completion of an ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Disease fellowship and an Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology fellowship Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease - Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Must hold or be eligible for a full and unrestricted West Virginia medical license at the time of employment Must be able to perform all essential duties as outlined in the position Must meet qualifications for faculty appointment at the Marshall University Joan C.
