Shepherd University invites applications for a nine-month, full-time tenure-track assistant professor position within the School of Education beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in elementary education, literacy and/or special education, engage in scholarly research, advise students, supervise field experiences, and contribute to service at the school, and university levels, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Earned Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.
D.) in Elementary Education, Special Education or closely related field Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience in a K-6 setting. Evidence of scholarly potential or record (publications, conference presentations, etc.). Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Reading/Literacy Specialist Special Education Certification Experience teaching at the college/university level. Familiarity with edTPA or other performance-based assessments. Experience supervising teacher candidates in field placements. Ability to integrate technology into instruction and field supervision. Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
