Job Description

Academic Achievers, a leading provider of educational support, is currently seeking passionate and experienced Reading Specialists for Kindergarten - 5th grade for hourly in-home after school or weekend tutoring on the westside of Los Angeles. If you are a trained, experienced, early elementary reading teacher with the desire and ability to work one-on-one after school on the westside, we would like to meet you. Specialist must be available to travel to the student's home on the westside of Los Angeles between 4:00-7:00pm during the week and/or the weekends. Sessions are individual and 1 hr. in duration. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Reading Specialist to provide in-home elementary literacy support. This hourly role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with young learners, fostering their reading development through personalized instruction and innovative teaching strategies. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, expertise in curriculum development, and a passion for empowering students to achieve their full potential. As a vital member of our educational team, you will contribute to creating engaging learning experiences that promote literacy, critical thinking, and a love for reading. Duties Deliver individualized reading instruction tailored to each student's unique needs, utilizing assessment-driven methods and evidence-based practices. Conduct ongoing student assessments to monitor progress, analyze performance data, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Collaborate with families, teachers, and specialists to coordinate academic interventions and support early childhood development goals. Utilize Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) frameworks to deliver targeted literacy interventions for students requiring additional assistance. Maintain detailed records of student progress, lesson plans, and assessment results Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, Child Development or related field; Master's degree preferred. Proven experience teaching literacy or working with children in elementary or preschool settings, including early childhood education Background in therapeutic reading programs such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, etc.. Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment-driven instruction Familiarity with learning technology platforms, educational compliance standards, and quantitative analysis for student progress evaluation. Experience working with students with disabilities or special needs, including implementing academic interventions within Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with families, educators, and specialists. Ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners across various age groups including toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary students; prior private school experience is a plus. Knowledge of literacy education best practices, teaching math concepts relevant to early learners, and experience tutoring or providing instructional design are highly valued.
