Our 115 bed facility established in 1924 prides itself on upholding a standard of excellence that allows our patients to take the first step to recovery. BHC Alhambra Hospital is a private, fully accredited, full-service acute psychiatric hospital serving children, adolescents and adults. BHC Alhambra is dedicated to providing quality behavioral health, substance abuse, and eating disorder treatment. We offer inpatient, residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient options for individuals in the communities of the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles County, and surrounding areas. The Call Specialist is responsible for assisting in the admissions process by inputting all referrals and patient information in to the computer system, consulting with potential patients, patient families, medical staff and other hospital staff, and communicating with patients and patient families with regard to current assessments, recommended referrals and recommended required levels of care. Assists Assessment and Referral Counselors, Lead, and/or Shift Supervisors to screen, triage, and arrange admissions.
Responsibilities:
Collect and record accurate information for each call including clinical description, referral sources, demographic information, financial/insurance information and follow-up requirements. Communicate with patients and families in regard to community resources, and financial arrangements. Responds appropriately to telephone inquiries, providing accurate information, assist A&R Counselor, Lead and Shift Supervisor in completion of pre-admission screening, empathic crisis intervention, and determining suitable referral. Assist in processing all requests for information to all referral sources. Assist in providing customer with requested information and external referrals. Qualifications:
Requirements:
Education:
AA Degree in social work, psychology, counseling or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, is preferred.
Experience:
At least two (2) years' experience in a mental health setting preferred. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in interviewing, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds preferred.
