  • Atlanta Area School for the Deaf is hiring for an experienced Student Services Coordinator.
The Student Services Coordinator serves as a school administrator and serves as a collaborative member of the core leadership team led by the school-level superintendent, providing a cohesive educational program for students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing or blind and visually impaired. The Student Services Coordinator coordinates, oversees, and provides strong leadership for special education programs, services and supports. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Job Duties Serve on the school's core leadership team Assist in building and sustaining the school mission and vision while facilitating shared leadership, and addressing internal and external dynamics at work within the school Provide instructional leadership by participating in professional development for continuous improvement and to retain quality staff Utilize data to make instructional decisions, special education programmatic decisions, and guide school success; Implement procedures for referral, evaluation, placement, assignment, and reevaluation of students with regard to the special education services program Coordinate, support, and verify annual student data for required state reporting Lead and/or participate in Individualized Education Plan meetings Lead and/or participate in Reevaluation Data Review meetings Oversee the process for Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans Model and support teachers in using behavioral interventions aligned to a student's function of behavior Demonstrate ability to problem solve and diffuse difficult situations Disseminate information from monthly meetings with school leaders and teachers Provide professional learning or training on special education/IDEA topics; Monitor implementation of required IDEA components such as IEP data collection, on-time IEP meetings, and required IEP supports and paperwork Model and support teachers in using effective teaching strategies and interventions for students with disabilities Serve on the placement/evaluation team for students, including toddlers, referred to State Schools Serve as the school representative in mediations and Due Process Hearings Responsible for supervisory responsibilities including staff evaluations. Demonstrate effective communication with teachers, students, parents, families and the larger community Manage conflict and crisis in a timely and professional manner Set, support, and sustain a focus on school goals and school-wide student achievement Exhibit professionalism and demonstrate professional standards; and Perform other duties as assigned by school-level Superintendent This position reports to the school-
Level Superintendent Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching may be required. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Additional work hours during the week and weekend, including travel that may be assigned to meet the needs of the school and students.

Applicants for positions at Atlanta Area School for the Deaf or Georgia School for the Deaf will be expected to exhibit the ability to communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) during the interview with an expectation of obtaining an ASL rating of 3+ or above within three years from date of hire.
