Job Description

Position Title:
Education and Outreach Specialist:
posted 9/18/2026 Reports to: Program Manager, unless otherwise indicated part-time position, daytime with occasional nights and weekends, 15-24 hours per week
Position Purpose:
The Education and Outreach Specialist plays a key role in advancing the mission of Jana Marie Foundation by conducting educational trainings on mental health, suicide prevention, and resiliency, and by representing the Foundation at community outreach events. This position focuses on fostering youth and community engagement to reduce stigma and break down barriers around mental health. Responsibilities may also include designing, developing, and evaluating curricula and training programs to meet the needs of diverse populations, as well as cultivating and supporting community partnerships.
Essential Functions:
1. Deliver group instruction and training focused on mental health, suicide prevention, resiliency and other related topics. This may include general presentations and facilitation of evidence-based trainings. 2. Develop educational presentations and/or recommend or utilize outside programs that meet Jana Marie Foundation's mission. 3. Assist with administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs and presentations. 4. Evaluate effectiveness of presentations and outreach events. 5. Assist with special events such as Embrace and Ignite Wellness Programs, Summer Camps, etc., as needed. 6. Willingness to attend workshops to gain knowledge around related topics. 7. Establish and continue to build partnerships and meaningful relationships with related organizations, agencies, schools, and individuals throughout Central PA. 8. Attend outreach events and represent Jana Marie Foundation and our mission 9. Attend check-in meetings and have open communication with Executive Director, Program Manager and the Jana Marie Foundation team 10. Be an advocate and spokesperson for Jana Marie Foundation 11. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications The Education and Outreach Specialist will be thoroughly committed to Jana Marie Foundation's mission. Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include: 1. A minimum of a bachelor degree or equivalent. 2. Two to three years in facilitation of trainings, public speaking, or related experience. 3. Background checks, including state, federal, and child abuse. 4. Excellence in organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation. 5. Ability to convey a vision of Jana Marie Foundation's mission 6. Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. 7. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning 8. Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed. 9. Flexibility to work daytime and occasional nights and weekends. 10. Valid drivers license and ability to travel locally for programs. 11. Some heavy lifting required.

$16.00 - $19.00 per hour
