Job Description

General Academic is Houston's leading K12 tutoring, test prep, and college counseling consultancy. Since our start out of a Rice University dorm room in 2003, we have helped thousands of students achieve their potential, and we're growing rapidly. We privately tutor nearly 2,000 students every year out of our Rice Village and Hedwig Village offices, in-home, or online. Through our Piqosity e-learning platform, we are also the nation's largest publisher of online practice material for the ISEE, ACT, and SAT standardized tests. Our SEO-optimized articles routinely own their niche and are our primary lead generator, attracting more than 600k readers a year, and we want you to drive that number exponentially higher. Overview The Specialist reports to the General Manager to drive organic lead generation; primary responsibilities include: Creating high-converting educational blog and web content Optimizing SEO and conversion funnels Building lead magnets and automated email lifecycle sequences Candidate Profile and Required Skills General Academic seeks a self-motivated, data-driven, and process-disciplined Specialist to scale organic acquisition across our consultancy and edtech platforms. Potential candidates should be adaptable, analytical, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. They must have a deep interest in K-12 education, digital publishing, and search engine optimization. A college education is required, and 2-4 years of experience in SEO copywriting, digital content management, and conversion rate optimization is strongly preferred. Technically, candidates must have exceptional writing and editing skills, along with proficiency in CMS platforms (WordPress), SEO research tools (SEMrush), Google Analytics/Search Console, and digital CRM/email marketing software. Data accountability, attention to detail, and strict adherence to operating workflows are required. Delegation of Authorities The Specialist's primary responsibilities can be defined within three categories: Content Writing & Editorial Execution (40%) Research and write 3-5 long-form, high-intent articles weekly across our web properties. Develop comprehensive Houston private/magnet school profiles, admissions guides, and standardized test prep resources (ISEE, SAT, ACT). Maintain strict editorial calendars aligned with seasonal academic search trends and client buying cycles. SEO & Conversion Rate Optimization (35%) Execute on-page SEO, keyword targeting, and legacy content refreshes to maintain and expand top organic rankings. Design and place strategic inline Call-to-Actions (CTAs) across high-traffic posts to convert readers into service consultations or software trials. Monitor Search Console and Analytics to track rankings, organic traffic, and lead attribution. Lead Magnets & Email Lifecycle Marketing (25%) Develop downloadable assets (e.g., Houston Admissions Timelines , Test Prep Score Matrices ) to capture parent and school contacts. Build and maintain automated email sequences that nurture prospect downloads into paid consultations or subscription trials. Track lead flow directly inside the CRM to ensure 100% marketing attribution and seamless handover to the sales team. Schedule and Compensation Required hours are in-office Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8am to 4pm. Off-site is allowed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Punctuality and adherence to core operational hours are required. The start date of this role is on or after November 1, 2026. Base salary is dependent on education and experience but will be in the range of $55,000 to $65,000 before semesterly performance bonuses tied to organic lead targets.
