Learn more about us at https://llac.org/ How You Will Make an Impact The Special Education Program Coordinator will coordinate the implementation of the Special Education Program goals, objectives, and action plans designed to provide and improve the learning opportunities for exceptional students. The coordinator will perform a variety of professional activities involved in the observation, assessment and identification of psychological, behavioral and educational needs of referred or identified students; develop/implement effective interventions, instructional approaches/strategies/methodologies; and consult/collaborate with other school team members in the planning and evaluation of school programs and services to meet the special needs of students.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding about researched-base effective instruction to support students with disabilities Stay current with special education policies and trends by researching new and innovative practices, maintaining professional memberships, attending conferences, and participating in SELPA activities and trainings Provide advice and counsel for teachers and principals on matters pertaining to special education Develop, implement and conduct in-service training sessions for parents, faculty and staff to enhance educational, developmental and remediation services for students; prepare and deliver oral presentations Assist in assuring educational activities for identified students comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures Communicate with school personnel, outside agencies and the public to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns Attend/participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) and various other meetings concerning students with special needs; collaborate with parents, school staff and administrators in the development and implementation of IEPs, Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) as required Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others Administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time Qualifications
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC
Knowledge of the fundamental principles and accepted practices, current trends, and research in the field of special education Ability to cooperatively collaborate with center staff and instructional departments in a timely, responsive manner to meet business needs and reach company goals Ability to employ conflict resolution strategies Ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-task environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to use technology effectively Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Hold a valid California Clear Education Specialist Teaching or PPS (school psychology) credential Master Degree in a related field preferred Minimum of five years teaching experience or school psychologist experience Three years of site or department leadership, such as program specialist, preferred Proficient in software applications (MS Word, Excel) and standard office equipment
