Position Purpose:
Under the general supervision of the school principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe, and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a liaison between the school and the district by attending building/district meetings and professional development sessions Work collaboratively with teachers and principals to develop, update, and implement district curriculum Participate in curriculum development, textbook adoption process and the development of district assessments, pacing guides, and other assigned tasks Review assessment results by schools and grade levels and participates in professional development based on identified areas of need Provide ongoing training and support to teachers in the use of assessment strategies and tools Model instructional practices in a variety of settings and provide follow-up support to ensure effective teacher implementation Provide professional development for teachers as needed in the use of the curriculum and instructional methodologies and materials Provide ongoing professional development that supports the school plan for continuous improvement and grade level initiatives Provide ongoing professional development and support to teachers at the district level as necessary Stay abreast of and develop instructional staff regarding state standards, best practices, instructional strategies, and educational research Select and utilize appropriate learning materials/instructional tools consistent with district curriculum Support the establishment of an effective learning climate Contribute to the design, coordination, and implementation of professional development learning and programming Support the improvement of teaching and learning at the school Work with students and families to address group/individual student learning plans Collect, maintain, and report data regarding students as needed Prepare and maintain various written reports Effectively and constructively communicate with members of the school community
Additional Duties:
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal(s) and district administration (The responsibilities listed above are representative of the position and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties.)
Salary Structure/Work Schedule:
The instructional specialist works a 189 day certified staff contract schedule plus 10 additional days. The additional 10 days are scheduled in consultation with the supervising administrator.
Work Hours:
7.25 hours per day; 5 days per week Work calendar: 189 days (2026-2027 calendar)
Travel Requirements:
Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts Ability to use learning software applications as needed Ability to communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others
Qualifications:
Missouri Elementary B-3, K-8 and/or 1-6 teaching certification
Education:

FLSA Status:
Exempt Salary:
Commensurate with years of full-time teaching experience. Service credit is awarded on a year-by-year basis, with a maximum of 20 years recognized. ( Certified Teacher Salary Schedule 2026-2027 ) Candidates that have signed a contract for the 2026-27 school year need to check with their district prior to applying to ensure they can be released from their contract if they are recommended for the position.
