Less than 10% (occasional store visits)Job Summary:
This is a content-building role, not a training-delivery role. As an Instructional Designer at TXB, you will spend the majority of your time authoring e-learning in Articulate 360, structuring courses and learning paths in Schoox, writing job aids and manuals, and producing the video and graphics that go inside them. You are not primarily standing in front of a classroom, and you are not primarily running reports. Our learners are hourly, shift-based team members spread across many stores. They learn on a phone or a back-office terminal, in short sessions, between guests. Training that works here is short, visual, mobile-friendly, and built for a first-time job holder. What You Will Build- Onboarding and role-based learning paths for store team members, shift leaders, and store managers.
- Interactive e-learning modules — scenario branching, knowledge checks, and simulations of the systems our teams actually use.
- Food safety, alcohol and tobacco, fuel, safety, and HR compliance training, built to hold up to an audit.
- Short-form video, screen recordings, job aids, quick reference guides, and printed manuals.
- Assessments and certifications, and the reporting that proves who completed what. Essential Functions Instructional Design and Content Development
- Design and build e-learning courses from scratch — storyboard, script, build, test, publish, and revise.
- Conduct needs assessments with operations leaders and subject matter experts to identify real performance gaps, then determine what genuinely requires training versus a job aid, a process change, or a coaching conversation.
- Apply sound instructional design practice: adult learning principles, measurable learning objectives, scaffolded practice, and assessment aligned to objective.
- Write clearly for a working audience — plain language, short sentences, no corporate filler.
- Revise existing content when processes, products, or regulations change. Maintenance is a standing part of this role, not an afterthought. Media Production
- Record, edit, and produce short-form training video and screen captures.
- Create or source graphics, icons, and imagery consistent with TXB brand standards.
- Manage audio, voiceover, captioning, and accessibility considerations for published content. Learning Platform Administration
- Administer the
LMS:
build course shells and learning paths, set enrollment rules and due dates, manage user groups and permissions, and publish and version content.- Publish and troubleshoot SCORM and xAPI packages, including tracking, completion criteria, and mobile playback issues.
- Partner with IT and the platform vendor on integrations, user provisioning, and defect resolution. Compliance and Measurement
- Track completion against regulatory and internal requirements; escalate gaps before they become findings.
- Build recurring reports and dashboards on training progress and compliance metrics for HR and operations leadership.
- Stay current on industry trends and regulatory changes so training materials and practices remain accurate.
- Collect learner and manager feedback, evaluate whether training changed behavior on the floor, and revise accordingly. Partnership with the Field
- Work directly with department heads and subject matter experts to translate operational expertise into teachable content.
