Job Description
Jericho Elementary School is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and student-centered Academic Specialist to join our school community for a short-term sub position from September 15th until January 4th. This position is designed for a licensed educator who is passionate about ensuring all students receive the instruction and support they need to be successful. The Academic Specialist will partner closely with the teachers to provide differentiated instruction through flexible small groups, targeted interventions, and individualized support within an inclusive classroom environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge, experience, and a commitment to the following:

Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to design and deliver differentiated instruction that meets the needs of a wide range of learners.
Provide flexible small-group and individualized instruction to support student growth while maintaining high expectations for all learners.
Use assessment data to identify student needs, monitor progress, and adjust instruction accordingly.
Demonstrate knowledge of effective literacy and mathematics instructional practices, including intervention strategies and evidence-based instructional approaches.
Support inclusive classroom practices by helping students successfully access Tier 1 instruction.
Foster student independence, confidence, perseverance, and a growth mindset.
Create learning experiences that honor diversity, celebrate individual strengths, and promote belonging.
Demonstrate proactive, trauma-informed, and relationship-centered instructional practices.
Implement strategies that support students' social-emotional development, self-regulation, and engagement in learning.
Collaborate effectively and respectfully with classroom teachers, interventionists, special educators, administrators, and families to support student success.
Demonstrate an understanding of and experience implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Use evidence-based decision making to continuously evaluate instructional effectiveness and student outcomes.
Seek and embrace constructive feedback with the belief that continuous professional growth improves outcomes for students.
Demonstrate knowledge of high-quality literacy instruction, standards-based mathematics, inquiry-based learning, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
Maintain a flexible, solution-oriented mindset and contribute positively to a collaborative school culture.
