Full Job Description Position Summary:

A Level I Folklore Instructor will lead and develop a culturally enriching Folklore dance program. The instructor will be responsible for teaching students of various skill levels the fundamentals of dance technique and performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Plan and lead Folklore dance classes for students of varying ages and experience levels. Teach proper dance technique, choreography, posture, and musicality. Introduce students to the cultural and historical significance of various regional styles (e.g., Jalisco, Sinaloa and Guerrero). Prepare students for school performances. Maintain a positive, inclusive, and culturally respectful learning environment.. Assist with costume coordination, rehearsals, and performance logistics. Ability to travel between multiple school sites, up to 40 miles.

Qualifications:

Required:

Demonstrates experience teaching Mexican Folklore dance, preferably to children or youth. Basic knowledge of regional styles from Jalisco, Sinaloa and Guerrero, music, and cultural traditions. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities. Reliable, punctual, and professional in communication and conduct. Must pass background check and TB clearance

Preferred:

Bilingual in Spanish and English. Previous experience working in public schools, after-school programs, or cultural arts organizations. Experience with choreography and performance production.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Must be able to lead physically active classes and demonstrate movements. May involve local travel. Requires ability to lift/move up to 50lbs.
