A Dance Teacher teaches students in dance movement and choreography. Usually requires previous dance experience. Teaches a variety of dancing styles to individuals or groups of students. Styles may include ballet, tap, hip-hop, ballroom, jazz, lyrical or modern.
6/30/2027 11:59 PM Pacific Class Purpose Peralta Community College District is seeking qualified Part-Time Faculty members to provide high-quality instruction and student support in accordance with the District's mission of advancing equity, student success, and academic excellence. Part-time faculty are responsible for delivering engaging, inclusive instruction that promotes student learning and achievement while supporting the diverse educational goals of the District's students. Assignments are made on an as-needed basis and may include day, evening, weekend, online, or hybrid classes at any of the District's colleges. Examples of Duties Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Teach assigned courses in accordance with approved course outlines and student learning outcomes. Prepare and deliver effective, student-centered instruction using evidence-based teaching practices. Develop and maintain course syllabi, instructional materials, assignments, and assessments. Evaluate student performance in a timely and equitable manner and maintain accurate academic records. Submit grades and other required reports by established deadlines. Create an inclusive, respectful, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. Maintain regular communication with students and respond promptly to inquiries. Utilize the District's learning management system and other instructional technologies as appropriate. Comply with District policies, collective bargaining agreements, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations. Participate in department meetings, professional development, and other college activities as appropriate for part-time faculty. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a Master's degree in dance, physical education with a dance emphasis, or theater with dance emphasis, OR Possession of a Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND Master's in physical education, any life science, physiology, theater arts, kinesiology, humanities, performing arts or music OR the equivalent Understanding of, sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of Peralta Colleges' students, faculty, staff and community.
