Position Overview We are seeking a passionate and experienced Folklórico Enrichment Instructor to lead culturally grounded after-school dance classes for students in elementary through high school. This role focuses on introducing students to traditional Mexican folklórico dance styles, techniques, and regional influences. The ideal candidate brings strong dance expertise, instructional ability, and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful learning environment. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Program Delivery Develop and implement structured, engaging lesson plans Teach foundational folklórico techniques including footwork, rhythm, posture, and coordination Introduce regional styles and the cultural and historical significance of folklórico dance Provide warm-ups, conditioning, choreography instruction, and cool-down activities Adapt instruction to meet varying skill levels and learning needs Student Engagement & Classroom Management Maintain high levels of student engagement and redirect behaviors as needed Foster confidence, cultural appreciation, and expressive performance Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment Encourage teamwork, respect, and collaboration among students Performance & Program Support Choreograph and teach performance routines appropriate to student skill levels Prepare students for showcases or culminating performances Maintain costumes, props, and music equipment Track attendance and participate in staff meetings or trainings Expectations Arrive early for setup and remain after class for cleanup Lead structured, high-energy classes with clear progression Come prepared with lesson plans, music selections, and culturally appropriate instruction Reinforce discipline, focus, and performance quality Maintain consistent communication with Site Coordinators and Arc leadership Follow Arc's core expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Have Fun Represent Arc professionally at all school sites Qualifications Education & Experience Minimum of 48+ college units (60 units required for high school programs) OR passing score on an academic proficiency exam Experience teaching dance, preferably folklórico or similar cultural dance forms Strong understanding of traditional folklórico styles and techniques Experience working with elementary through high school-aged students Ability to differentiate instruction for varying skill levels Strong classroom management and communication skills Additional Requirements Experience working with youth in diverse communities CPR Certification (Adult, Child, Infant) preferred Negative TB test andCOVID-19
vaccination record Completion of Live Scan background check Reliable transportation to assigned school sites and Arc office Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and demonstrate dance movements for extended periods Active participation in choreography and instruction throughout class Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (costumes, equipment, or materials) Why Join Arc?
