Act 1 Dance | Lodi, NJ Act 1 Dance is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Tumbling Instructor to join our teaching staff for the 2026-2027 dance season.

Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for someone who is confident teaching advanced tumbling, prioritizes safety, can effectively spot skills, and understands how to translate tumbling skills into a polished recital performance. Responsibilities Teach a Level 3 tumbling class in a safe, positive, and encouraging environment. Work with dancers on proper technique, strength, flexibility, and progressions for back handsprings and related skills. Safely and confidently spot tumbling skills and provide appropriate hands-on assistance. Assess students' abilities and provide modifications or progressions based on individual skill levels. Maintain a safe and organized class environment. Prepare students for studio performances and the annual recital. Understand how a dance studio recital operates, including rehearsals, staging, spacing, formations, and performance expectations. Choreograph a tumbling routine for the annual recital, incorporating age-appropriate and level-appropriate skills. Collaborate closely with the Studio Director regarding choreography, class goals, student progress, and recital preparation. Communicate professionally with the Studio Director and other members of the teaching staff. Qualifications Previous experience teaching tumbling/gymnastics, preferably in a dance studio setting. Strong knowledge of tumbling technique and progressions, particularly back handsprings. Must be comfortable and experienced with spotting tumbling skills. Ability to safely teach and progress students toward advanced tumbling skills. Experience choreographing routines for performances or recitals. Understanding of the structure and expectations of a dance recital. Reliable, professional, patient, and enthusiastic when working with dancers. Ability to work collaboratively with the Studio Director and follow studio expectations and choreography direction.

Pay:

$25.00 - $45.00 per hour
