Pottery Wheel Instructor — Hourly + Tips BellyFire Studios BellyFire Studios is looking for friendly, reliable, and skilled wheel Instructors to help people discover pottery in a fun, welcoming environment. This is about more than knowing how to throw. You're hosting an experience. You'll lead classes, explain techniques clearly (following a system), encourage beginners, and help people feel comfortable trying something new. We want guests to have fun, experience that moment when something clicks, and leave excited to come back. You don't need to be a master potter, but you do need solid wheel skills, patience, and the ability to connect with people. Previous teaching experience is a plus. We'll train you on our class structure, teaching methods, and studio procedures. Compensation Hourly pay + tips, with strong tip-earning potential. Tips are a big part of this role on top of hourly—not just a small extra. We're looking for someone who brings personality, connects with guests, and makes the class genuinely fun. Responsibilities Lead beginner wheel classes, private lessons, parties, and group experiences Demonstrate wheel-throwing techniques in a clear, approachable way Give individual guidance while keeping the whole class engaged and moving Help students work through challenges without making them feel discouraged or taking over their projects Follow BellyFire's class structure and teaching methods while bringing your own personality to the experience Prepare wheels, tools, clay, and workstations before class Make sure student pieces are properly labeled, organized, and placed in the correct processing area Explain next steps, including firing, glazing, and pickup procedures Clean and reset the classroom, wheels, and tools after classes Communicate with front-of-house staff, technicians, and management about class needs and student work Help interested guests understand their options for continuing through classes, technique series, or memberships Assist with other studio operations as needed Who We're Looking For Friendly and engaging — you enjoy talking to people and can make a room full of strangers feel welcome Confident on the wheel — you can consistently center, open, pull walls, and create basic forms, and understand how to troubleshoot common problems Patient and encouraging — you remember what it feels like to be a beginner Clear communicator — you can break a skill into simple steps without overwhelming someone Reliable and punctual — you arrive prepared and have the classroom ready when guests arrive Organized and attentive — you can manage class timing while noticing who needs extra help Open to feedback — you're willing to learn our approach and keep improving how you teach Proactive and team-oriented — you take ownership of your classes and help keep the studio running well Why BellyFire?
