OVERVIEW

En Avant Academy of Dance is seeking a knowledgeable and encouraging instructor for a Monday evening teaching block spanning Contemporary 2/3, Contemporary Performance Group, and Pointe. This position is ideal for a teacher with strong contemporary and ballet foundations who enjoys developing dancers' technique, artistry, confidence, and performance skills in a supportive studio environment.

MONDAY SCHEDULE

Mondays 4:45-7:00pm: Contemporary 2/3, ages 8-13 Contemporary Performance Group, ages 8-13 Pointe 1 + 2 This is a weekly position for the remainder of the 2026-2027 season, continuing through June 2027.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach contemporary technique with an emphasis on alignment, strength, musicality, movement quality, and expressive artistry Lead Contemporary Performance Group rehearsals, developing choreography and preparing dancers for community and studio performances Provide safe, technically sound pointe instruction following En Avant's curriculum and director-led placement standards Adapt instruction to support dancers with different strengths and experience levels Build confidence, teamwork, healthy training habits, and consistent rehearsal etiquette Prepare choreography for studio performances and the annual recital Communicate professionally with the studio director, staff, dancers, and families Arrive prepared and maintain dependable weekly attendance throughout the season

QUALIFICATIONS

Strong contemporary and ballet background Experience and technical knowledge necessary to teach pointe safely Understanding of proper alignment, strength development, injury prevention, and progressive pointe training Experience teaching children and teens Ability to create age-appropriate contemporary choreography suited to dancers' abilities Warm, encouraging teaching style with effective classroom-management skills Dependable transportation to Burlington and the ability to commit consistently throughout the season Prior experience teaching pointe and preparing dancers for performances is strongly preferred.

Pay:
