Job Description
Under limited supervision, the Department Chair provides comprehensive leadership, administration, and instructional support for the Administrative and Healthcare Technologies Department. The role oversees curriculum development, faculty and staff supervision, program operations, and student success initiatives while ensuring compliance with institutional, state, and accreditation standards. The position also supports departmental technology needs, budgeting, strategic planning, and external partnerships, while maintaining an active teaching role and fostering strong relationships across campus and with community stakeholders. Click here for more information on this department and the programs click here Provides leadership and oversight for departmental operations, including scheduling classes, assigning classrooms, evaluating instructor workloads, and approving course outlines. Supervises curriculum coordinators, instructors, and staff; assigns and reviews work; evaluates performance; addresses employee concerns; and participates in hiring, onboarding, and personnel recommendations. Collaborates with academic leadership on staffing, salaries, and program direction, including consultation with the Dean and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Leads curriculum development and program improvement initiatives, including program review, course revisions, and development of new programs and courses aligned with workforce and student needs. Ensures compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies. Develops and manages departmental budgets, prepares grant justifications, and monitors financial resources and expenditures. Designs and implements departmental marketing and outreach strategies to promote programs and increase enrollment. Oversees instructional quality by evaluating teaching methods, recommending improvements, and supporting faculty development. Teaches courses within Administrative and Healthcare Technologies, including preparing instructional materials, delivering content, assessing student performance, and maintaining accurate academic records. Provides academic advising and student support services, including registration assistance, placement guidance, and referrals to campus resources. Addresses and resolves student concerns and complaints in a timely and professional manner. Coordinates with Continuing Education to develop and expand non-curricular and workforce training programs. Manages departmental technology and computer support, including maintaining hardware/software, coordinating networking activities, troubleshooting issues, and planning for future technology needs. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, ensures proper functionality of instructional tools, and oversees procurement of materials, including textbooks and instructional resources. Develops and maintains departmental procedures, policies, safety standards, and internal communication processes. Prepares, reviews, and submits a variety of reports and documentation, including institutional effectiveness reports, budget reports, schedules, contracts, and academic records. Builds and sustains partnerships with local business, industry, and community organizations to support program growth, student opportunities, and workforce alignment. Engages in professional development and remains current in the field through research, conferences, and participation in professional organizations. Serves on college committees and participates in institutional initiatives and special projects. Maintains effective working relationships with campus departments and stakeholders. Responds to inquiries and provides information to students, faculty, staff, and the public. Operates and maintains office and instructional equipment, including computers, audio-visual tools, and other educational resources. Performs other duties as assigned.

Work is primarily performed in a classroom or laboratory setting equipped with standard instructional technology. The position involves frequent interaction with students, faculty, and staff and includes the use of online instructional platforms. Occasional travel may be required for professional development, off-campus instruction, or college events.Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position: Frequently sits for extended periods while performing administrative and instructional duties. Regularly stands, walks, and moves between offices, classrooms, and campus locations. Uses hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment. Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing, with individuals and groups. Occasionally lifts and/or moves items such as instructional materials, office supplies, or equipment (generally up to 20-25 pounds). May need to reach, bend, stoop, or kneel to access files, equipment, or classroom materials. Visual ability to read documents, review data, and operate computer systems. Ability to travel between campus locations or external sites as needed.Normal Working Hours:
Full-Time, 12 faculty position. Teaching responsibilities may include daytime, evening, hybrid, and online classes as assigned to meet departmental needs.
