Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Assistant Teacher specializing in Performing Arts to join our vibrant special educational team. In this role, you will support the lead teacher in delivering engaging performing arts instruction that inspires creativity, confidence, and collaboration among students. You will collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff members to produce two full scale performances per school year in addition to regular classroom activities. Your energy and passion for the arts will help foster a positive learning environment where special needs students in grades 1-12 can explore dance, drama, music, and other expressive arts. Responsibilities Assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate performing arts lessons that align with curriculum goals. Collaborate with lead teachers to assess student progress and adapt activities to meet individual needs. Help prepare materials and set up equipment for performances, rehearsals, and classroom activities. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student participation and progress in performing arts activities. Requirements Prior experience working with children in educational or childcare settings, preferably with special education. Knowledge of performing arts disciplines such as dance, drama, music, or movement instruction. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to support behavior management strategies. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents. Technical proficiency in using basic audio/visual equipment and educational tools related to performing arts activities. Experience working with individuals with autism or other disabilities is a plus; sensitivity to diverse learning needs is essential. Ability to assist in lesson planning.
