PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direct supervision of the Branch Director, the Driver provides safe and prompt daily transportation of children ages 6-17 years from local school locations to the Boys & Girls Club; and provides occasional transportation for children and staff on field trips and other outings. Drive and Maintain Vehicles
• Ensure passengers are properly secured with seat belt restraints
• Maintain required licenses and certifications to transport passengers
• Responsible for safety and supervision of children while in the vehicle, in transit and exiting the vehicle
• Know assigned routes, schedules and passengers for each day
• Ensure safe operation of vehicle as per Boys & Girls Club, State and Federal transportation policies
• Ensure vehicles are safe, well ventilated and equipment is maintained in good working condition
• Ensure all passengers follow rules regarding safety in vehicles and enforcement of rules
• Maintain basic vehicles operations and aesthetics, including interior cleanliness, fluid and fuel levels, documented pre-trip operation, and vehicle inspection
• Monitor who is utilizing the transportation program Miscellaneous Transporting
• Support Club administration in local drop off/delivery of donations or supplies as needed

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in special programs, events and other projects as directed by the Branch Director
• Consult with parents concerning member issues, as needed

RELATIONSHIPS

• Maintain close contact with Club staff, volunteers, members and parents

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

• High School diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
• Current CDL Class B or higher (not Class C)
• Commitment to the mission, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of the Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena
• Five years of driving experience
• Clean DMV driving record
• Ability to provide supervision of children before, during, and at conclusion of transport
• Ability to interact appropriately and positively with children ages 6-17 years old
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavioral problems
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
• CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• 10-15 hours/week maximum.

Must be able to start work Mondays at 12:00pm and Tuesdays-Fridays at 2:00pm

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and walk 75% of the time on the job
• Must be able to ascend and descend into/out of and sit while operating a van
• Must be able to work in a loud environment with many children in motion
• Occasionally operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
• Occasionally ascend/descend a ladder
• Occasionally moves equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
