No Job Purpose:

The Plumbing Trades Instructor is responsible for providing classroom and virtual instruction, and practical lab experience to prepare trainees for employment in the skilled trades. The Instructor teaches courses related to the core skills used by both residential and commercial plumbers in the skilled trades and contributes to the development and delivery of assigned curriculum in Trades Education. The Instructor is responsible for ensuring trainees enrolled at Build Smart Institute receive a high-quality experience and learn the skills needed to gain entry to construction industry occupations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and prepare daily lesson plans and complementary lab instruction for trainees enrolled in assigned courses. Supervise all trainees enrolled in assigned courses and ensure the safe operation of required hand and power tools. Ensure all trainees enrolled in assigned courses don the proper personal protective equipment during lab instruction. Operate in a safe manner while adhering to all Build Smart Institute policies and procedures at all times. Record and prepare required reports, grades, activities, assessments and evaluations for all trainees within the student management system. Communicate with trainees and their family members or community partners as appropriate to provide course updates and individual progress. Maintains strict confidentiality of trainee information, progress, and all other information related to company operations and matters. Assist the Student Support and Business Operations Specialist with maintenance of trainee files following enrollment to include but not limited to making copies of enrollment documents, filing course certificates, and required reports. With approval and upon request, purchase goods and equipment for Build Smart Institute courses. Participates in Staff meetings as required. Accomplish all tasks as assigned or requested to successfully achieve the mission of Build Smart Institute.

Qualifications:

Required Experience, Competencies, and Education:

High school diploma or GED and fifteen or more years of relative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that includes: Competencies in the following areas:

• Expertise and knowledge as a plumber that includes five or more relative years of experience in the occupation
• Expertise in using hand and power tools
• Leadership experience in Construction Management
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
• OSHA 10 preferred
• Use of various office equipment Demonstrates the following characteristics:

• Strong time-management and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently

Pay:

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
