Position description This recruitment is open to active University of California, Davis Academic Senate Associate and Full Professors as well as Cooperative Extension Associate and Full Professors. The holder of the MacArthur Foundation UC Endowed Chair in Food Sustainability will either be: an Academic Senate member at the level of associate professor or full professor, or an associate professor or full professor of Cooperative Extension. The individual will specialize in the general area of food sustainability with distinguished scholarship that is nationally or internationally recognized. The term of the MacArthur Foundation UC Endowed Chair in Food Sustainability is five years, with no option for reappointment. The endowment payout of approximately $65,000 annually will support the chair's efforts in research, teaching, and service and further the mission of the home department and the campus. It is expected that the selected individual will advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of their scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service. In addition, as holder of the MacArthur Foundation UC Endowed Chair in Food Sustainability, the individual is expected to: Engage in research and other scholarly activities focused on the areas outlined in the research proposal. If an Academic Senate member, advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of their scholarly activities, teaching, and University and public service; teach a regular course load in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the home department or graduate group (teaching may not be bought out using endowment funds.) If a professor of Cooperative Extension, extend knowledge and information, perform research

  • professional competence and activity, and University and public service.
Engage in education and extending knowledge to external stakeholders focused on the areas outlined in the research proposal. Perform service, provide leadership, and otherwise be fully engaged in activities of the home department, school/college, and/or University. Comply with the UC Davis Faculty Code of Conduct and Principles of Community. Enhance the academic and intellectual life of UC Davis.
