The T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics at Arizona State University is seeking a Student Support Specialist to join our team. The Student Support Specialist serves as the first point of contact for the School. In this role, you will support undergraduate, graduate, and prospective students by addressing general inquiries and connecting them to appropriate contacts and resources via phone, email, and chat. You will also provide essential administrative support to the Sanford School advising staff. A function of this position is to develop a deep understanding of student needs and communicate effectively with relevant teams to ensure the best possible educational experience. The Student Support Specialist facilitates connections to a broad range of academic, professional, and personal support services — helping students overcome barriers, strengthen their skills, and ultimately improve persistence and graduation rates.Days and Schedule:
Monday•Friday 8:00 a.m.•5:00 p.m. This is a 100% onsite position.Position Salary Range :
$42,000•$45,000 per year,DOE Essential Duties:
I. Student Services & Advising Support Serve as the primary reception desk contact, welcoming, checking in, and directing all incoming students, guests, and inquiries Confer with students regarding program procedures, policies, and technical guidance, directing them to the appropriate advisor for further assistance Administer support to enrolled and prospective students, including course registration, graduation processing, petitioning, withdrawals, program documentation, and student orientations and information sessions Respond to student questions and concerns in a timely, helpful, and encouraging manner Assist with make-up exams, course overrides, and general advising inquiries Support student outreach efforts and manage Salesforce-related student inquiries Coordinate Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Honor Society activities and related correspondence II. Administrative & Operational Duties Manage email and phone communications on behalf of the school Generate and maintain reports, including graduation audits, grad checks, incomplete grades, and prerequisite reviews Handle mail services and deliveries, and bulletin board updates Provide backup support for parking validations, master key access, and academic scheduling Review and help ensure adequate E2E staff coverage for student appointments Perform detail-oriented administrative tasks accurately and efficiently III. Collaboration & Relationship Management Initiate and sustain strong, positive working relationships with program coordinators, department chairs, and university units Work collaboratively across university departments to facilitate comprehensive student support Serve as backup support for advising, scheduling, and event coordination as needed Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development seminars, and student support-related meetings Perform other duties as assignedDesired Qualifications:
Knowledge of organizational and administrative practices Strong skills in organizing, prioritizing, and managing competing work activities effectively Demonstrated customer service experience in a professional or educational setting Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff Proficiency with personal computers and related software applications Experience supporting programs of study for a student population Demonstrated ability to self-direct on identified projects while also functioning as a high-performing team member Flexibility, resilience, and the ability to manage quickly changing priorities, including conflict resolution Proficiency with Salesforce, PeopleSoft, and Microsoft Office applications (email, spreadsheets, presentations, and documents Comfort troubleshooting technical issues and working through detailed administrative processesWorking Environment:
