Essential Elements:
Print Principal duties include oversight of a Tk-12th grade small school setting of approx. 300 students. Must be able to supervise employees including teaching staff. Must be able to work with parents and the community. Must have experience with student discipline and the development of effective procedures. Must be able to manage multiple task and follow protocols. Must be creative and willing to move the school toward a higher academic achievement status. Must have a passion to work with children.
Requirements / Qualifications
California Administrative Service Credential required, with 2 years experience as Principal. Develop, Implement, and supervise a Tk-12 grade charter school. Must be creative, hard working, and excellent at molding and shaping teachers for success. Must enjoy working with at risk populations. Must be able to multi-task. Must teaching and administrative experience. Must be familiar with WASC accreditation, school wide accountability plans, and Title 1 programs. Must be able to innovate and increase test scores for a Program Improvement school.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination or equivalent to: Master's Degree and three years of classroom experience, or experience in pupil personnel services. Teaching experience is preferred.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
Must have an Administrative Services Credential Of current enrollment in an Administrative Services program. A clear teaching or Pupil Personnel Credential.
Knowledge and Abilities:
  • Ability to organize and coordinate pilot programs, goals and objectives.
  • Knowledge of School Law Administration and mandated state laws.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of administration, supervision and training.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of curriculum evaluation and computer operations.
  • Knowledge of school climate and discipline.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt a course of action.

Plan, organize, control and direct the instructional programs, operations, plant and personnel for a small-specialized charter school. Work Duties
  • Evaluate, organize, revise and implement curriculum.
  • Direct, supervise and coordinate educational activities for the charter school.
  • Interview and evaluate assigned staff.
  • Direct implementation of staff development and in-service training.
  • Conduct staff meetings and charter assessment team.
  • Establish, coordinate and maintain communications with community and parents.
  • Implement and conduct discipline procedures for students.
  • Update staff on laws and state mandated regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations.
  • Establish and organize new and innovative programs.
  • Plan, organize and direct instructional activities, extracurricular events, special programs and plant operations at a small specialized charter school involving a small staff of certificated and classified personnel; confer with Corporate Office personnel regarding staff, programs, students, finances and legal requirements; implement the school's mission, goals, objectives and programs.
  • Assist in interviewing, select, direct, evaluate and supervise certificated and classified personnel; assign faculty and staff as appropriate to meet school objectives.
  • Direct and participate in a planned program of classroom visitations and observations; recommend discipline action as appropriate; document evidence of substandard performance.
  • Enforce applicable State and District codes, policies and laws; administer school site discipline policies and safety programs.
  • Assist in the development and administering of site budgets; assure proper allocation of funds for instructional and non-instructional equipment and materials.
  • Direct the evaluation and revision of curricular and instructional programs in cooperation with appropriate administrators; communicate with teachers to assure instructional programs meet student needs and charter requirements.
  • Establish, coordinate and maintain communication with community and parent groups, City officials, Parent Counsel and law enforcement officials.
  • Prepare and write correspondence, bulletins and other communications on behalf of the school; obtain Superintendent's approval for all documents.
  • Plan, implement, direct, evaluate instructional and categorical programs in accordance with State and federal laws, charter regulations and other specially funded program requirements.
  • Assure the health, safety and welfare of students; oversee attendance, behavior management, counseling, guidance and other support services; provide individual academic and personal counseling to students and parents. Oversee and implement ILP's.
  • Coordinate the maintenance operations of the school plant; assure proper management, maintenance and inventory of materials, equipment, buildings and grounds.

  • Supervise, and attend a variety of student events during the day or in the evening.
