JOB TITLE

District Athletic Director Job Purpose Statement:
Under the general supervision of the Principal, assumes responsibility for administering the athletic program for both boys and girls and performs other duties as part of the leadership team at a comprehensive high school. Also, including the organization of athletic activities for the middle school.
Essential Job Functions:
Act as school administrative representative in all athletic activities, including home games and league meetings. Be responsible for the initial certification of all athletic insurance and academic eligibility for athletic teams. Be in charge and handle all record keeping of all athletic insurance certificates. Provide and maintain copies of all athletic schedules, making sure all changes are properly recorded on the master schedule of activities. Requisition bus transportation for all events, prepare budget for school athletic programs in conjunction with coaches and Assistant Superintendent
  • Business Services.
Be responsible to notify all head coaches concerning discipline problems pertaining to athletics. Arrange joint conferences with parents/teachers, as necessary in compliance with State Law Inspire students and encourage good team player/citizenship in all areas of their school career. Handle discipline cases referred by teachers as necessary. Exercise the authority of the school in cases of necessary suspension of students in line with school policies. Support fellow teachers by encouraging the attributes of the student athlete. Assist in supervising fire, earthquake and civil defense drills. Have preliminary administrative authority for all matters pertaining to the area of athletics. Uphold and support District practices and polices as they pertain to student participation in athletics. Supervise issuance/collection/care of athletic equipment and uniforms. Carry out other duties as may be assigned. Facilitate the organization of Parent School Booster Club (No school district affiliation allowed). Promote school Athletic events through advertisement and media promotions. Support student academic and character development through the 'Six Pillars of Character". Do not schedule practice or games during scheduled academic testing. Job Requirements

Successful classroom teaching experience, valid California Credential authorizing grade level and subject area to be taught. Skills, Knowledge and/or
Abilities Required :
Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance. Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects. Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking /hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or
Testing Required :
Possession of Bilingual, Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (BCLAD), Bilingual Certificate of Competence (BCC), Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD), Language Development Specialist Certificate (LDS) or English Language Development (ELD) Certificate.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Experience Required:
Three years' teaching experience at the high school level. Skills, Knowledge and / or
Abilities Required :
Ability to work well with people; good organizational ability; a sound philosophy of educational leadership based on strong character and decision-making ability supported by sound judgment.
Education Required :
Bachelor's Degree including all courses to meet credential requirements.
Personal Qualities :

Testing Required:
