Full Job Description Summary:
The Assistant Principal serves as lead support to the office of the School Principal. The Assistant Principal is primarily responsible for supporting the instructional process with specific responsibility for directing assigned programs and services, implementing policies, implementing curriculum, supporting data-drive instruction, and observation and feedback, in order to promote the educational and social development of all students and the professional development of all staff members.Responsibilities:
The primary duties and areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, the following: Staff training Creates a professional community that focuses on instruction and high student achievement; Motivates teachers to continue to develop their skills and knowledge; Institutionalizes the implementation of educational practices through regular observation, coaching, and evaluation Models effective instructional practices in team meetings and professional development Curriculum/Learning Model Utilizes data to evaluate learning model and drive curriculum development; Works closely with principal to create and lead an effective Data Team within the school; Coordinates curriculum within the district with all lead administrators and Central Management leadership; School Culture Ensures a safe, supportive, and productive environment for students, staff, and families; Sets and maintains high academic expectations among students, staff, and families; Supports student discipline, conflict resolution, and helpful student support services; Promotes teamwork within the learning community; Demonstrates cultural competencies in managing a multi-cultural institution; Community/Parental Outreach Engages parents in school operations and student functions; Communicates on a regular basis with families through newsletters and announcements; Seeks and builds relationships within professional and civic organizations; Resolves parent issues respectfully and effectively; Collaborates with Central Management to maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and regional and national partners; Compliance Supports principal to oversee timely and accurate reporting in coordination with School Operations Team and Central Management; Understands implications of state and federal laws and regulations and ensures procedures are followed to maintain school compliance with these regulations; Supports principal to coordinates with School Operations Team to develop and monitor the school budget and align the use of time, money, and materials to the school's instructional priorities; Building Management Ensures procedures are in place and being followed to maintain a safe, clean, and neat campus and meal service where nutrition, hygiene, and customer service needs are being met.Education/Experience:
Masters' degree or higher, preferably focused on educational leadership or curriculum and instruction; 3 years' experience in leadership capacity, including lead teacher, department chair, etc., preferred; 5 or more years' teaching experience preferred; Must have and maintain valid Michigan administrator certificate.Desired Competencies:
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment; Mission-driven, connecting the overall leadership strategy to the goals of U Prep Schools; Ability to recognize and nurture high-quality teaching; Experience in building positive relationships with teachers, students, and parents; Ability to make decisions in a strategic way understanding the balance between the big picture and the individual needs of the school community and its students; Meticulous organization and use of time; Excellent written and oral communication skills.Benefits:
