School Board Job Summary:
Guilford Preparatory Academy seeks an experienced and visionary K-8 Principal to lead its students, faculty, and staff in fostering a culture of academic excellence, character development, and community engagement. The Principal will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of school operations, including instructional leadership, staff supervision, student achievement, school climate, and family and community partnerships. This role requires a dynamic and innovative leader committed to ensuring a high-quality education for all students in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership:
Develop and implement a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned with state standards and school goals. Lead and support teachers in the use of research-based instructional strategies to improve student outcomes. Analyze student achievement data to inform instructional practices and ensure continuous academic growth. Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development among staff.
School Management & Operations:
Oversee daily school operations, ensuring a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment. Develop and manage the school budget in collaboration with school leadership. Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local education laws and policies. Implement and enforce school policies, procedures, and expectations for student conduct.
Staff Supervision & Development:
Recruit, hire, evaluate, and retain highly qualified teachers and staff. Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to educators. Foster a positive and collaborative work culture that supports teacher retention and effectiveness. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Student Achievement & School Culture:
Cultivate an inclusive and supportive school culture that promotes respect, responsibility, and resilience. Implement initiatives to support student academic, social, and emotional development. Address student behavioral concerns through restorative and proactive approaches. Encourage extracurricular activities and programs that enhance student learning and engagement.
Family & Community Engagement:
Build strong relationships with families, fostering a culture of open communication and partnership. Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and local stakeholders to support school initiatives. Promote parent involvement in school activities and decision-making processes. Serve as a spokesperson for the school, representing its vision, mission, and goals to the broader community.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field. Valid Principal's License or Administrator Certification as required by the state. Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience, with at least three (3) years in a leadership role. Strong knowledge of curriculum design, instructional best practices, and student assessment. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the community. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Experience managing school budgets and resources effectively. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a Principal or Assistant Principal in a K-8 setting. Proven track record of improving student achievement and school performance. Familiarity with technology integration in instruction and school management. Experience in charter school leadership and governance.
