Position Purpose:
Mentors work individually and in groups with students to strengthen academic achievement, attendance, school connectedness, social-emotional wellness, cultural identity, and school-family partnership. Mentors use culturally responsive and relationship-centered practices to help students recognize their strengths, connect to their culture and community, and overcome barriers to school success. Supports students in developing age-appropriate self-advocacy and problem-solving skills needed to address barriers to success. Maintains and monitors student data, goals, and progress and provides regular feedback to students. Builds trusting relationships with students and intentionally recognizes, affirms, and elevates students' cultures, identities, strengths, and lived experiences. Facilitates communication and partnership among students, families, school staff, and other supports. Collaborates with school administrators and staff to support student progress. Facilitates groups and Warrior Circles using culturally responsive practices, Restorative Practices, and cultural teachings to strengthen relationships, identity, belonging, communication, and school connectedness. Participates in Restorative Conferences and other student support processes as appropriate. 2.

Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree in a human services-related field or equivalent work experience (e.g., high school diploma or GED with 30+ months of directly related experience). Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, motivate, and inspire individuals and groups. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and families from diverse cultural and community backgrounds. Commitment to culturally responsive practice and to recognizing and elevating students' cultural identities, strengths, and experiences. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an associated field. Previous experience working with K-12 youth. Knowledge of or experience with culturally responsive practices, Restorative Practices, Warrior Circles, Native American cultures and traditions, or other culturally grounded approaches. Supervision This position reports to the Assistant Director of Student Support Services or designee and works collaboratively with building administration and members of the Student Support Services Team. Personal contact with students, parents/guardians, and coworkers is an essential part of the position and requires the ability to share information, empathize, maintain professional boundaries, and protect confidential and private information.
