Job Description:

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

The Online Learning Specialist (OLS) will provide programmatic academic and administrative support to students, faculty, and staff associated with online/hybrid courses and programs. The Online Learning Specialist will assist in the management of online student orientation activities, as well as ongoing faculty training and development support specific to online and hybrid learning.

The OLS will:

manage the Online Learning Office's data analysis activities; assist in ensuring program compliance with state and federal distance learning regulations and authorization standards; assist in marketing college courses/programs available online; assist in the planning and exploration of new online courses/programs able to serve local, regional, and state need; and, implement course/program development efforts that increase quality of service, product, and student completion/retention/persistence. The OLS must be flexible and may have work assignments adjusted in order to support College programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide academic and transfer advising to prospective, new, and continuing online learning students. Assist with online student inquiries in-person, by phone and through email as appropriate. Coordinate student orientation and acclimation efforts for students new to online/hybrid learning modalities. Manage and coordinate student support activities (success webinars, embedded support resources and materials, etc.) that contribute to student success in the online/hybrid modality. Serve as the first point of contact for online students' concerns, complaints, and grievances. Serve as concierge for online students and as alternate institutional representative to

(Directors of Online and Distance Learning) and other appropriate consortia. Facilitate enrollment for new and continuing online learning students throughout the academic year (online, telephone, and in person); maintain, recommend, and propose revisions to business and service processes to promote online student success. Provide reports and data analysis of online/hybrid learning activity, enrollment, and related data, using Excel, PowerBI, Argos, Banner and/or other appropriate software/databases. Assist Admissions, Marketing Communications, ACE, and other college departments with the marketing and recruitment of students interested in studying online or in blended environments. Create, update, and maintain accurate and timely website information related to online learning. Assist the college's academic leadership with semester and academic-year schedule planning pertaining to online offerings. Assist Online Learning Office and Informational Technology Services staff with course management, technology, and software training and maintenance, as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned, related to needs and priorities of Online Learning.

Requirements:

EDUCATION

A Bachelor's degree OR an Associate's degree and a minimum 3 years of related experience.

EXPERIENCE

Related experience in an online or technology-enhanced environment working directly with a diverse population. Experience working with higher education students and faculty on matters related to high-quality online and hybrid course delivery and student support preferred. Experience with common learning management systems, experience working with faculty with all proficiencies to teaching in an online or hybrid learning modality, experience providing support in a large scale, high volume distributed environment in-person and at a distance, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Skilled in reporting, analyzing data and attention to detail. Understanding of approaches that support online student course completion, retention, and persistence, preferred. Proficiency in instructional technologies, online course management and/or Microsoft Office 365 preferred. Outstanding communication skills. Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity. Develops accessibility solutions that can accommodate all individuals.

RELATIONSHIPS

This position reports to the Director of Online Learning. The Online Learning Specialist works closely with Online Learning staff, academic deans, faculty and other content area experts, Records, Admissions, Student Success Center staff, Institutional Research, Information Technology Services, and other GCC departments.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This is a full-time, year-round position working 35 hours per week. Position is compensated at $45,184.62. Salary, benefits and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract.
