Job Description

ASTEC Charter Schools is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Counselor's Assistant to support our school counseling program. This role works closely with counselors, administrators, students, and families to provide essential support in student services, attendance monitoring, translation, and student records management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, bilingual in English and Spanish, and committed to supporting student success in a collaborative school environment. Key Responsibilities Support daily counseling office operations and student services Assist with student interventions, meetings, and follow-up Track and monitor student attendance; communicate with families Provide translation (English ↔ Spanish) for meetings, calls, and written communication Assist with student enrollment, registration, and records management Maintain accurate student data in the Student Information System (SIS) Support English Learner (EL) services, including WIDA testing coordination and compliance Assist with documentation, reporting, and student support programs Collaborate with counselors, SPED staff, and administration Maintain strict confidentiality of all student and staff information Qualifications Associate's degree required (Bachelor's preferred or in progress) At least 1 year of experience working with school-age children or in a similar role Fluent in English and Spanish (required) Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office & Google Workspace) Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to multitask and meet deadlines High attention to detail and professionalism Why Join ASTEC?
